General Report

Our unit operated under the call sign Voodoo once again and we were tasked in patrolling the vicinity of sectors 2030 and 2031. F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe nd his brother P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe were my wingman for the mission. Take-off had no issues and we reached the area at the requested Angels of 15. Visibility was severely affected by the amount of clouds in the area and after about 30 min patrolling the sectors, we decided to drop angels below clouds which gave us Angels of about 10. Flight remained uneventful until we received a call out to the NW of our position on the radio about 15 min after. According to the report, a single enemy had been spotted flying over Huckenswagen in grid 1827, about 20 km NW of our position. We made our way there below clouds and immediately spotted the bandit attacking our troops. P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe and F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe engaged the 110 but were immediately attacked by nearby 109s. F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe was hit by one of the bandits and was forced to bail over our lines but I was able to hit the bandit as he tried to climb back up to disengage from combat. I decided the area was too risky for us and we were running out of fuel fast so we disengaged west. About 10 min in our egress, I spotted the second 109 who had decided to seek revenge on his shot down buddy. I ordered a cross-over turn and P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe and I quickly placed the enemy between us. P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe then began to climb to gain the upper hand in the combat while I stayed engaged in a energy contest with him. About 2 min of turn fighting, it seemed that the enemy misjudged my energy and gave a good shot opportunity when he tried to outclimb me. WIth a quick burst under the fuselage, his plane blew up mid-air and no parachutes were seen. We RTBed back to base with very low fuel.
