Unit operated under the call sign of Voodoo and was tasked in providing an adavanced fighter sweep between the cities of Gennep and Venray where our bombers would be later on passing through. Flight was composed of me, leading, and F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe. We had no issued during take off, despite the muddy runway and soon after reaching the area at the pre-assigned Angels, we spotted a small group of German aircraft patrolling the air space nearby. We attacked the formation and I was able to shoot down 1 Fw-190 and F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe in a quick approach, engaged and destroyed 02 Fw-190s in succession. During our egress route, we spotted a He-111 probably conductng a recon flight near the front and, in a low headon pass, I was able to hit the enemy fuel tank which caused a great explosion that literally split the plane in half. As we resumed our egress towards our lines, we spotted yet another formation of enemy planes but this time Me-109s. F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe shot down the bandit and we ALL RTBed safely.
