General Report

Flight BUMPER, again, under my leadership took off for a defensive patrol over the munitions depot in the vicinity of Cherbourg. Unblike the first sortie, however, BUMPER was engaged over the channel by a formation of Me-109s, and my wingman, F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe , took considerable hits to his engine and was forced to bail out. A parachute was seen a few moments later and we strongly believe he will be able to make it as many ships were spotted near by. P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe managed to destroyed the bandit but got engaged by 02 Me-109s immediately after bringing down the enemy. He showed great defensive skills to fend off the enemy and I was able to brong both of them down. Flight BUMPER RTBed safely back ot Tangmere with all remaining Spitfires unscathed.
