We arrived near the target, however intercepted by a flight of 109s. Squadron broke right, I continued to follow White 1. Both tailed two 109s, and confirmed kills for white 1. Continued flight at around 13,000ft. Yellow 1 opened fire accidentally on White 1. Pilot injured, and engine sustained damage that was not immediately obvious. White 2 opened fire on Fw 190 and confirmed kill. Enemy flight of approximately 4 He 111 spotted but not reached to destroy. White 1 had engine failure due to damage taken earlier from Yellow 1. Aircraft confirmed ditched near Nijmegen, and pilot survived. Tailed another Bf 109 however significantly outran me so not confirmed kill and 109 probably returned to base. Volkal passed en-route to base and received heavy bombing on entire airfield. | ||
