General Report | ||
Immediately after RTBing from the first sortie over Hertogenbosch Defences, S/L requested the ground crew to quickly rearm and refuel our planes for another one. I had to switch to EB-Y for this one since EB-N was severely damaged on the wing. Flight B, again under the codename BUMPER, took-off from B.77 without problems and quickly encountered a large squadron of Tempests in the vicinity of the target area. This time our fighters had more altitude and nearby support and it did not take long before a large formation of Me-109s was encountered. F/O 'Mac' Steele shot one down from close range after a quick turn fight but was forced to bail out after a bullet hit his shoulder. I managed to take down 03 Me-109s, including the one who had previously shot at my wingman, and also damage another. The remaining pilots RTBed safely. |
