General Report | ||
Squadron was grouped under the codename BUMPER for this mission and led by 41Sqn_Skipper. The squadron was composed of 3 sections in a Fluid Six formation and I was tasked with leading White Section (heylookabigmac as my wingman). We were tasked with an offensive fighter sweep between the areas of Venlo and Wessenberg where reports indicated the presence of some fighter patrols. We encountered a large B-25 formation in route around the area of Asch (sector 2016) which were about to be engaged by a mix of enemy fighters composed of Me-109s and Fw-190s. We managed to support the bomber formation before the enemy had a chance to properly engage them and I managed to shoot down 01 Fw-190 and witness heylookabigmac shoot down one Me-190 in the area. Unfortunately, according to 41Sqn_Skipper, Yellow Section suffered a mid-flight collision during the engagement and both 41Sqn_Vasilich and 41Sqn_MADOV were KIA. All remaining pilots RTBed safely at Le Culot air base. |
