B.771.10.2017.00Unit transferred to B.56 (Evere) in order to resupply and repair. Future operations will be carried out from the new airbase until further instructions.
B.563.10.200.00Today's operations were met with high air resistance from the enemy and the unit suffered one of its greatests loses since its deployment in mainland Europe. 03 Spitfires were lost and 01 pilot KIA.
12.00Temporary transfer to B.79 in order to support an offensive operation along with No.56 Squadron RAF.
B.7919.30Unit was tasked with an Offensive Fighter Sweep over the city of Breda. 04 enemies shot down and 01 pilot KIA.
Gilze18.10.20S/Ldr 'Skipper' Merfort , F/O 'Mac' Steele and an attached 71st squadron pilot, F/Lt Barns, conducted a patrol around the Antwerp area which turned to a brawlin which our pilot's claimed 2 hun aircraft and our 71 Sqn fellow claimed two more for the count. There was no damaged received and the pilot's returned safely.
Catterick21.10.20The squadron moved to RAF Catterick for a few weeks of rest.
