825Spitfire IXEB-NSM207SelfOperational from Köln-Ostheim. Callsign, 'Bumper', comprised of blue flight and red flight, conducted a ground attack on ground troops in Plettenberg. One enemy bandit shot down over the objective and another near by.F1780h 37
Back into the cockpit after a short break in London. Distancing myself from the front line was definately a welcome pause to the horrors of this God damn war. Despite the time away, I was glad to see my aim is still on point and luck on my side. In today's operation, I shot down 2 German planes over the target area. Both confirmed by the newly arrived pilot, P/O 'Al' A. Lamothe . Current tally is now at 06 enemy AC destroyed and 1 damaged. I hope to continue contributing to taking down the Nazi war machines so we can finally put an end to this.
829Spitfire IXEB-NSM207SelfOffensive Sweep from Ophoven. Unit operated under the callsign BUMPER and was tasked with protecting the American supply column headed to the city of Venlo.F1802h 0
Another aerial victory today after our unit got entangled with a formation of Me-109s over Venlo. I managed to destroy one and my wingman, F/O 'Zach' Z. Lamothe, another.
829Spitfire IXEB-NSM207SelfOffensive Sweep from Ophoven. Unit operated as GROWLER and was joined by Tempests to continue air support operation over Venlo.F1821h 0
829Spitfire IXEB-NSM207SelfOffensive Sweep from Ophoven. In the last fight of the day, GROWLER, led by F/Lt 'Riksen' Richards was again tasked to support the supply column moving to Venlo.F1831h 0
A very exhausting and dark day for our unit today ... Although I managed to destroy one more Me-109 between Venlo and Deurne, our squad suffered too many loses and two of our pilots were KIA. Despite the success in protecting the supply column, the overall mood back at base was depressing and most of us could not even bear to sit down for supper.
